The short version: the locations you simulate never leave your computer. Larpspot has no reason to send them anywhere, so it does not. What follows is the long version.
What we never collect
- The coordinates you set, search for, save or replay. These stay on your Mac. There is no endpoint that receives them.
- Your device’s real location, at any point, for any reason.
- Your routes, favourites or history.
- Your iPhone’s serial number, UDID, phone number or Apple Account.
- Contacts, photos, messages, or anything else on the device.
What we do collect
Licence validation
To check your subscription is active, we receive your licence key and a machine identifier derived from your Mac’s hardware ID. The identifier is a one-way derivation: it lets us count how many computers a licence is active on and lets you deactivate one from your account. It cannot be reversed into anything that identifies you or your hardware to us. Validation happens periodically, and Larpspot keeps working offline for a grace period so a flight does not lock you out.
Anonymous failure diagnostics
When something fails, Larpspot may send: an error code, your iOS version, and your Larpspot version. Nothing else. No position, no identifier, nothing tied to you. This exists so we learn within a day when a new iOS release breaks the product, rather than learning it from refund requests. You can turn it off in the app’s settings.
Account and billing
If you buy a subscription we hold your email address and your subscription status. Payment card details are handled entirely by our payment processor and are never transmitted to or stored by us.
This website
We use no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking, and we sell nothing to advertisers. We do run product analytics on this website — Amplitude — to see which pages people read and where they give up. It records the pages you visit, the buttons you press and whether a purchase completed, together with your browser, your operating system, your approximate country and a random identifier it stores in this browser so two page views in a row can be recognised as one visit. That identifier is not your name and is not shared with anyone.
It never receives your email address, your licence key, or any location you simulate — those never reach this website at all. You can stop it entirely by turning on “Do Not Track” or a content blocker in your browser; nothing on this site stops working if you do.
Legal basis and retention
We process licence and billing data to perform our contract with you, and diagnostics on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the product working — an interest we have narrowed to three fields precisely so it does not intrude on you. Billing records are kept as long as tax law requires. Diagnostics are aggregated and discarded within 90 days.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or UK you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, object to processing, or ask for a portable copy. Since we hold very little, most of these resolve quickly. Write to us and we will answer within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
Third parties
We share data only with the processors needed to run the service — a payment processor, hosting, and the website analytics described above — and never sell it. We do not share anything with advertisers. Our analytics processor stores its data in the United States, under the standard contractual clauses in its data processing agreement.
