Something not working?

Two things make an answer much faster:

  • 01Your iPhone’s iOS version (Settings › General › About).
  • 02What the diagnostics screen in Larpspot says is blocking.

Also worth a look: compatibility and the FAQ.

The five things that actually go wrong

Larpspot says Developer Mode is off

On the iPhone: Settings › Privacy & Security › Developer Mode › On. The iPhone then restarts and asks you to confirm after it boots — that second confirmation is the step people miss. If the menu entry is not there at all, plug the iPhone into a Mac with Larpspot open once; that makes iOS reveal it.

Larpspot says the iPhone is locked

Unlock it and keep it unlocked while Larpspot connects. iOS refuses to expose developer services to a locked device. If it keeps locking, set Settings › Display & Brightness › Auto-Lock to a longer interval while you work.

The Trust dialog never appears, or you tapped Cancel

Unplug the iPhone, unlock it, plug it back in, and tap Trust — then enter the passcode. If it still does not appear, reset the pairing on the iPhone: Settings › General › Transfer or Reset iPhone › Reset › Reset Location & Privacy, then plug in again.

Nothing happens when you plug in

The most common cause by far is the cable. Many cables carry power only. Try the one that came with the iPhone, or another cable you know transfers data, and use a port directly on the Mac rather than a hub.

It worked yesterday and stopped today

Check whether iOS updated overnight. A new release can change the mechanism Larpspot uses. Our compatibility page is updated as soon as we know.
